Pistons and Timberwolves fight spills into stands, 7 ejected including J.B. Bickerstaff

MINNEAPOLIS — Detroit Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and multiple players were ejected early in the second quarter during Sunday's road game against the Minneapolis Timberwolves at Target Center.

Isaiah Stewart, Ron Holland and Marcus Sasser were also ejected. Naz Reid, Donte DiVincenzo and assistant coach Pablo Prigioni were ejected for the Wolves.

With 9:29 on the clock, Holland and DiVincenzo collided in midair and suffered hard falls after the latter blocked a layup attempt by Holland.

The following possession, Stewart missed a short jumper, grabbed his own rebound and missed the ensuing layup attempt. Simone Fontecchio drew a charge on DiVincenzo on the other end.

After Stewart and Gobert helped their teammates up, Stewart gave Gobert a light shove and was whistled for a technical foul.

With emotions high, the scene spiraled out of control after Holland fouled Reid on a layup attempt. Reid walked up to the rookie while pointing his finger, appearing to scold him. A shoving match then broke out between Holland and DiVincenzo, and players and coaches from both teams rushed in.

The Pistons led 39-29 at 8:36 of the second quarter at the time of the brawl.

Sasser and Stewart were caught in the initial fray, and Bickerstaff and Prigioni also exchanged words.

The Pistons were already without starters
