Penn State football added its ninth class of 2026 commitment on Tuesday afternoon, maintaining its standing as one of the nation's top-ranked groups.
Shortly after holding a midday press conference, head coach James Franklin fired off his new commitment tweet, symbolizing the addition of 3-star athlete David Davis to the team's recruiting class.
With the addition of Davis, Penn State's class ranks No. 7 nationally per the 247 Sports rankings and third in the Big Ten Conference behind only USC (No. 1 overall) and Oregon (No. 6 overall).
Elsewhere, On3 ranks Penn State's 2026 class at No. 8, the fourth best in the conference behind the Trojans, Ducks and Ohio State. Despite the lower class ranking, On3 is the only outlet to grant Davis a fourth star. Rivals also has the Nittany Lions penciled in at the No. 8 spot, trialing the two West Coast programs.

It's important to note USC, Clemson and Kansas, which rank above the Nittany Lions, also hold more commitments (15, 12 and 13, respectively), giving them an advantage. On a per-recruit basis, Penn State's class ranks higher than the Tigers and Jayhawks.
It's still early in the cycle, meaning there will be man more commitments and potentially de-commitments in the coming months, but the Nittany Lions are on pace to finish with their best recruiting class since 2022, a unit that featured Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen, Abdul Carter, Kevin Winston Jr. and Dani Dennis-Sutton among others.
