Penn State basketball freshman guard enters NCAA transfer portal
After just one season in Happy Valley, Penn State freshman guard Jahvin Carter is on the move. The destination is not known, but Carter has confirmed on social media he will enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal, thus allowing him to explore his potential options for a new home. Penn State head coach Mike Rhoades announced the transfer portal entry news during a conference call with the media on Wednesday.
Carter appeared in 26 games as a true freshman for the Nittany Lions during the 2024-25 season. The three-star recruit in Penn State's Class of 2024 averaged 8.2 minutes per game with 2.1 points per game in his limited role off the bench.
Carter committed to Penn State over offers from Middle Tennessee and Georgia Tech. in the summer of 2023. He was the first commitment on the board for the Nittany Lions in the Class of 2024. Carter is a native of Alcoa, Tennessee.
By entering a name in the transfer portal database, players are allowed to have contact with other programs looking to recruit them to their respective programs. Players may take their names out of the transfer portal at any time if they wish, but they run the risk of their current school filling a scholarship slot with no guarantees made once entering the transfer portal.
