Former Seattle Kraken forwards Morgan Geekie and Ryan Donato have reached the 30-goal mark for the first time in their careers.

Geekie, now playing in his second season with the Boston Bruins, is having back-to-back career seasons and is taking his game to another level this season. The 26-year-old set a career-high of 17 goals and 39 points last season, before scoring 31 goals and 55 points in 75 games.

Geekie is second on the team in both goals and points, behind only David Pastrnak.

The Strathclair, MB native played two seasons with the Kraken, recording 16 goals and 50 points in 142 games. Many believed Geekie had more to offer, but few expected him to be a 30-goal scorer.

Also enjoying his second season with the Chicago Blackhawks, Donato has brought his production to unexpected heights. In 77 games, Donato has scored 30 goals and 60 points. In his first season with the Blackhawks, he recorded just 30 points. His career-high in points is in fact 31, a total he might finish eclipse with goals.

The 29-year-old leads the Blackhawks in goals and ranks second in points behind Connor Bedard.

Donato spent two seasons with the Kraken, playing with Geekie at times, registering 30 goals and 58 points in 145 games.

The Bruins and Blackhawks are at the peak of their rebuilds, offloading multiple key players at the deadline to gain draft capital. This has allowed Geekie and Donato to record the highest ice times of their career and enjoy a plethora of power play time.

Although a lot of their success can be attributed to them taking advantage of the situation they're in, they would both be leading the Kraken in goals and would rank second in points.

As the Kraken's existence continues, there will be more cases of players enjoying success when they leave the team, but also players who are unable to replicate the success they had with the franchise.
