Apr. 6—Tegan Frederick passed the 200-point career scoring mark as OFA downed Potsdam 11-1 in the second game of an NAC Lacrosse doubleheader on Friday night at Ron Johnson Field. In the first game visiting SaraPlacid used a late comeback to edge the OFA Girls 9-8.
BOYS GAME
Tegan Frederick delivered five goals and five assists to pass the 200-point mark and Aiden O'Neil tallied two goals two assists to lead the Blue Devils.
Playing a key role in the offense was long stick defender Austin Thornhill who scored one goal and started any number of transition rushes by knocking the ball away from Potsdam players and controlling the groundball.
"Austin (Thornhill) just never quits on a play and gets after everything. He is a very special player because of his ability to knock the ball away from call-carriers and control the ball in the same motion and go the other way," said OFA Coach Andrew Roddy after the Devils climbed to 4-0 on the season.
Lorenzo Rand also scored for the Devils and Brody Barrett passed out an assist.
Jackson Thornhill made two saves in the OFA goal allowing only a Chuck Fuller goal off an Aidan Weakfall assist.
GIRLS GAME
The Lady Devils controlled the lead for much of the game but Sara Placid rallied from a 6-4 deficit in the final four minutes of the game. Tyler Burke won three straight draws and SP used the extended possession to score five goals. Julienne Tremblay and Emma Clark each scored three goals for the winners, Lizzie Hardy tallied one goal and three assists and Kelsi Burke netted one goal with two assists.
Avery LaPage scored three times for OFA and Mia Jeneault scored twice. Brooke Irvine delivered one goal and one assist and Ella Ramsdell and Kenna Stull each scored once and Marrisa Lovely and Taylor Pinkerton added assists.
"We did a great job holding the lead for most of the game but we just couldn't get control of the ball at the end of the game. We have things to work on and we will keep working," said OFA Coach Jacob Jeneault.
