Florida State softball (39-6, 13-1) took game No. 2 against Cal (27-13, 6-8), 11-3, on Saturday to clinch the series victory in Berkely.
After Lonni Alameda reached her 800th victory as FSU's head coach on Friday, she received win No. 300 in the ACC the next day. The Seminoles have yet to lose a series against an ACC opponent as they are 13-1 and remain at the top of the standings.
FSU produced 11 runs on 11 hits. Katie Dack set the tone with an RBI single to give the Seminoles their first run of the day. Cal answered with an unearned run on a fly-out to right field by their DH Elon Butler in the bottom first.
The Seminoles had five more runs in the second and third innings to give them a comfortable 6-1 lead. Ashtyn Danley, Jaysoni Beachum and Amaya Ross hit a home run for FSU.
Beachum, who was going through a hitting slump, led the Seminoles with 3 RBI after her homer in the sixth inning. Danley was second on the team with two RBIs after her two-run homer in the top third.
Julia Apsel captured her 12th victory in the circle and remains undefeated this season. The Hofstra transfer flirted with a no-hitter after not allowing a hit for three-straight innings.
