On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Logan Cooley, C, UTA at NSH (42% rostered)
Cooley has a three-game points streak, including two multi-point games, and he’s a really good under-the-radar play for points against a weak defensive team. He notched an assist against the Preds last Thursday in a 4-3 loss, but overall has been fantastic against them in his career so far with seven points in six games.
Jake DeBrusk, LW/RW, VAN vs. SJ (37% rostered)
One thing about DeBrusk is that he really scores goals in bunches, and he’s carrying a three-game goals streak into this game after scoring just once in his previous 12 games. The Canucks have dominated this matchup in recent seasons and DeBrusk scored against them earlier this season. The Canucks should have no problems scoring goals with the Sharks expected to start backup Georgi Romanov, who’s allowed close to four goals per game and lost all five of his starts this season.
Will Cuylle, LW/RW, NYR at FLA (30% rostered)
Cuylle carries a three-game points streak into this game and his physical style is well-suited in a game against a tough, physical team. The Panthers are also resting players as they gear up for a playoff run, which opens the door for the Rangers to exploit a thinner-than-usual lineup. Cuylle should be good for goals, shots and hits in multi-category leagues.
Andrei Kuzmenko, LW/RW, LA at EDM (26% rostered)
This is a preview of their first-round matchup, though there’s a chance both teams elect to rest their players. Kuzmenko will be key to the Kings’ offense with five assists in two games and, at some point, they’ll need to score at will to defeat the Oilers. Stuart Skinner is expected to start, his first appearance since returning from injury, and he may be rusty.
Marco Kasper, C/LW, DET vs. DAL (11% rostered)
Tough matchup, especially if the Stars start Jake Oettinger. Kasper is slated to center L2 with Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat on his wings, and he’s coming off a two-goal performance in Tampa. If the Stars rest some of their vets, it’ll open up some more opportunities for Kasper to produce.
Ivan Demidov, RW, MTL vs. CHI (8% rostered)
That Demidov is already rostered in eight percent of leagues tells you how much hype has surrounded the Russian phenom. Signed just recently from the KHL, Demidov is expected to make his NHL debut Monday, perhaps in a top-six role with some looks on the power play. With no prior experience in North America to speak of, Demidov’s difficult to project; however, he’s a worthwhile streaming option for managers looking for big upside.
Sean Durzi, D, UTA at NSH (13% rostered)
Durzi has quietly collected a goal and three assists in his past six games, and Utah’s offense has surged recently, scoring at least four goals in four of their past seven games, five of which were wins. They lost narrowly to the Preds, 4-3, on Thursday, with Durzi playing 26:09, tied for most among Utah defensemen with Mikhail Sergachev. Durzi will QB the second PP unit with Logan Cooley.
