NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Defenseman Pickups and Expected Starters April 11 - Looking to Get Lucky By Deploying Casey

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.

Ryan McDonagh, TB vs. TOR (17% rostered)
McDonagh, profiled Wednesday, gets another mention as he remains in a top-four role for the Lightning. Despite going scoreless Wednesday, McDonagh has a goal and seven assists in his last 10 games, upping his season marks to three and 27, respectively. After a few down campaigns in a row, McDonagh tallied 32 points last year and is on pace to match that total this season. Even more impressive at 35-years-old is his plus-42 rating, a new career-high, and 149 blocked shots, the fourth straight and 12th season overall with triple-digits in that category.

Seamus Casey, NJ vs. PIT (10% rostered)
Casey, was promoted April 5 to rejoin the Devils. In the two games since returning, Casey has seen 14:24 and 17:37 in ice time, notching a point, albeit with just 50 combined seconds on the power play. He got off to a strong start to the season before being sent down to Utica in the AHL, where he gained valuable experience. Casey may have a chance to compete for third-pairing minutes to close out the regular season, though Simon Nemec and Dennis Cholowski are also in the mix.
