NFL to continue ability to flex games to Thursday night

The NFL has not announced the 2025 playing schedule, so the Arizona Cardinals do not know whether or not they will have any prime-time games. When schedules are announced in May, we will see if they get any games on Thursday night.

Even if they don't, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, there is the possibility they could have a game moved to Thursday.

At the annual league meeting this week, NFL owners passed a resolution to continue the ability to flex games to Thursday night, allowing a better matchup potentially to air on Amazon Prime Video when it is the only game to watch.

For the last two years, the league could flex games to Thursday night under a temporary resolution, but teams had to be notified 28 days in advanced.

This new resolution establishes a 21-day notice for the teams involved.

The league has only flexed one game to Thursday night in the last two seasons, a late-season matchup between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers.

There are limitations. The league can flex a maximum of two games in a season and teams can't play more than two Thursday games in a season.
