New ‘proposal’ imminent: CL-chasing side are ready to meet Utd’s demands to swiftly agree deal for ‘magical’ star
Manchester United are already thought to be in negotiations over one player’s exit for the 2025/2026 campaign.
Indeed, Real Betis are adamant about retaining Antony for a full season after he got off to a flying start to his loan spell in recent weeks.
Antony departed Old Trafford in January without making a single Premier League start in 2024/2025. He scored only one goal in the 14 appearances he made, which came from the penalty spot during a 7-0 win over Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
He featured for a total of 407 minutes and was utilised nine times by Ruben Amorim, who was then open to sanctioning his exit when Betis came knocking.
Betis determined to extend Antony loan
The Brazilian has since turned into something of a player reborn in Seville and is taking to La Liga life like a duck to water thus far.
Across his first 11 appearances, he has recorded four goals and four assists in all competitions, most recently notching two goal contributions in the UEFA Conference League against Vitoria Guimaraes. In the league, Betis are actively vying for a Champions League spot – currently sitting sixth-placed and eight points adrift of Athletic Bilbao in fourth.
They now boast a scintillating five-game winning streak, during which Antony has played the full 90 minutes in each of the victories – including a surprise 2-1 triumph over reigning league champions Real Madrid. Spanish outlet Diario AS went as far as hailing him as ‘magical’ following his debut in the iconic green and white stripes.
Now, according to journalist Mateo Gonzalez of ABC, Betis are ‘working to ensure Antony’s loan is extended until 2026’. They first tabled the idea back in December and are now plotting a fresh ‘proposal’ to send United’s way, where they will pledge to cover more of the 25-year-old’s £200,000-a-week wages.
