Denzel Dumfries will miss the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal tie between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Dutchman is aiming to return for the second leg.
Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries picked up a thigh injury during the international break.
The 28-year-old had been with the Netherlands squad for the start of the break. However, he had to pull out after picking up the problem.
Dumfries had been a fixture of the Inter starting eleven prior to the break. Injuries to Matteo Darmian and Nicola Zalewski had left Inter with few other options on the right flank.
However, that looks to have caught up with Dumfries. He will need to spend a couple weeks recovering from his injury.
Dumfries Out For Bayern Munich Vs Inter First Leg
Denzel Dumfries will miss today’s Serie A return to action against Udinese for Inter.
Moreover, the former PSV wingback will also be sidelined for the subsequent Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against AC Milan. And next weekend’s match against Parma.
And according to the Gazzetta, there would be virtually no hope of Dumfries coming back for the first leg of Inter’s Champions League quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich.
Inter hardly want to rush Dumfries back and risk further injury. Particularly at such a busy part of the schedule.
Therefore, the Gazzetta anticipate, Inter are aiming to have Dumfries back for the second leg.
