Nebraska football extended an offer to 2027 offensive tackle Mark Matthews on Tuesday. This was reported by On3’s Chad Simmons.
Matthews is ranked as the top offensive tackle in the 2027 class and the second overall player nationally. Per the On3 rankings, he is also the top player in his class from the state of Florida.
He measures six feet six inches and weighs 270 pounds. Matthews's offer sheet is getting larger by the day. He has several offers from the SEC, including Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
Currently, Nebraska football has no commitments in the 2027 class. Matthews would be a cornerstone commitment for the class, as his size and skill would allow him to be a staple of the offensive line.
Matthews is definitely going to be a tough get for the Huskers. His Florida connections could potentially prevent him from leaving the state. He’s a physical lineman who excels in both run and pass blocking and is the type of player who can anchor an offensive line. It will be interesting to see where the Huskers fall in his recruitment.
