Nebraska OC Dana Holgorsen expects large roles for young wide receivers

Nebraska football offensive coordinator Dana Holgerson indicated that freshman wide receivers Cortez Mills and Isaiah Mozee will play a major role in the offense this fall. Mills and Mozee were two of the highly recruited wide receivers in the 2025 class. Both wideouts were four-star recruits and highly regarded players in their state.

Mills was a Miami Herald All-Dade selection as a junior and was in the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl. Mozee was a three-time first-team all-state player in the state of Missouri. He totaled 230 receptions for 3,241 yards and 42 touchdowns in his high school career.

Now, the two aim to make their mark in the college game. Both wideouts have impressed their teammates throughout spring practice, and it appears they are also impressing their coaching staff. The offensive coordinator indicated those two may see more prominent roles when things kick off in the fall. Holgorsen elaborated on their possible contributions to the team during his press conference on Thursday.

"It’s starting to make sense to those guys that have logged reps, and the young guys just have to keep plugging away. A lot of times, those guys’ heads are spinning. We’ve got pretty much everything in. If we get into situational stuff, third downs, everything is on the table. It’s not just the plays of the day. You get down into the red zone, everything is on the table. It’s not just the plays of the day. You can see their heads – the younger guys, Cortez (Mills), Isaiah (Mozee) – their heads are spinning when you put it all together, which is understandable. The good news is it’s spring practice, going on number ten. We have five opportunities to coach them and come back in June and work more football before the real deal happens.”

Both receivers have a lot of potential and playmaking ability. It sounds like Husker fans may get to see that sooner rather than later.
