Enzo Maresca has revealed his perfect number nine is Nicolas Jackson and he would be ok with having a “copy” of the Senegal international.
Chelsea are set for a busy summer and could look to sell as many as seven or eight players to fund their moves in the window.
The Blues face a critical summer with the club needing to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker in order to strengthen Maresca’s squad.
Maresca labels Jackson as his perfect number nine
Jackson has led the line for the majority of the season, and has scored nine league goals, but a lack of an alternative for the 23-year-old has caused Chelsea issues.
The Senegal international picked up an injury on deadline day against West Ham and only returned after two months out in the win against Tottenham last week.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of strikers including Liam Delap and Benjamin Sesko, whilst Maresca has revealed what his perfect number nine is.
“My perfect number nine is exactly Nico Jackson,” he said as cited on X.com.
“We already have a number nine. It’s not summer now. If we can have a copy of Nico, it’s OK. I have said many times, and you can see as well, with Nico we are a better team. Nico is the one we need.”
Jackson has shown signs of improvement this season, but the Blues need a different profile in terms of squad balance and someone who gives them something different to the former Villarreal man.
