Mubama named February’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month
Elite Development Squad striker Divin Mubama has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month after his fantastic performances in February.
The 20-year-old, who joined the Club from West Ham in the summer, has made a total of six PL2 appearances and has scored an impressive seven goals and assisted four in an excellent start to life at City.
Mubama has also made his first appearance for Pep Guardiola's senior, earning his first senior cap for the Club – and goal – in our FA Cup win over Salford before his City Premier League debut against Ipswich.
In February specifically, which earned him this accolade, Mubama scored five goals and teed up two to help City stay top of the league summit and confirm our place in the knockout stage of the competition.
The month began with a tricky 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur. Mubama’s strike doubled City’s advantage after Jahmai Simpson-Pusey gave us a well-deserved lead.
A difficult trip to Middlesbrough followed. Mubama set up Jaden Heskey to put City ahead. Emilio Lawrence made it two before the number nine completed the scoring in our 3-0 triumph.
To complete the month, Mubama had arguably his best game since joining the Club, scoring a hat-trick in City’s 5-0 win over Chelsea at the Joie Stadium.
He also assisted Matty Henderson-Hall in a match where the striker showcased his strength, tenacity, and versatility in front of goal.
After receiving his award at the City Football Academy, Mubama said: “I am delighted to have won this award.
“I feel like I got to showcase the best of myself in February and I’d also like to give credit to my team-mates, the coaches and the staff for helping me settle into life at City so quickly.
“I’m grateful to be a part of the Club and I’m excited to continue my form for the rest of the season."
Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Divin on the award!
