Michigan State women's basketball gets 7-seed in March Madness, will play Harvard
The Michigan State women's basketball team is headed back to the NCAA tournament for the second time in as many years under head coach Robyn Fralick.
MSU will face 10-seed Harvard as the No. 7 seed in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday in the Spokane region.
If MSU can take care of Harvard in the first round, they will play either 2-seed N.C. State, who is hosting, or 15-seed Vermont.
The Spartans finished the season 21-9 and tied for fifth place in the Big Ten standings. Michigan State received a bye in the Big Ten tournament but got knocked out early by No. 11 Iowa.
MSU closed the season 2-4, which knocked them out of contention for a top-4 seed. The top-4 seeds host the first two rounds of the tournament, which would've meant two games for MSU at Breslin Center.

Under Fralick, the Spartans play a fast-paced, pressure-heavy style. MSU ranks 14th in the country in scoring (79.5 points per game), 10th in assists per game (18.3) and 12th in turnovers forced per game (22).
Three Spartans average double-digits in scoring — junior forward Grace VanSlooten (15.4 points, seven rebounds per game), redshirt senior guard Julia Ayrault (14.8 points, 7.4 rebounds per game) and junior guard Theryn Hallock (13.7 points, 2.9 assists per game). Though Michigan State ranks in the top-10 in assists, no player averages more than 3.3 per game, led by senior guard Jaddan Simmons.
Last year, Michigan State got knocked out in the first round of the tournament by North Carolina as a No. 9 seed.
Harvard finished 24-4 and third in the Ivy League.
