There are now 21 different ways a golfer can receive an invitation to play in the Masters Tournament.
For the 2025 edition of the first major on the men's golf calendar, 19 of those methods were used to book a spot in the field. As of the most recent Official World Golf Ranking on March 31, 96 players are expected to walk to the first tee on Thursday, April 10, for the opening round of the tournament.
Ahead of the Valero Texas Open, two of the last players to receive invitations were Stephan Jaeger, who grabbed his first PGA Tour victory at the Houston Open, and Byeong Hun An, who is 42nd in the most recent world ranking.
There are 20 ways to qualify for the Masters, and many players are exempt under several categories. Augusta National Golf Club also can offer special invitations to any players who have not otherwise qualified for the tournament. It handed out two of those for 2025.
