Maresca “embarrassing himself” with a “bag of lies” about Chelsea’s performances
The reason fan podcasts are so popular with football supporters is because they can share the perspective of the listener.
While journalists who attend matches and press conferences are neutral, or at least have to maintain an air of neutrality, this sort of content can react more emotively, in a way which fellow supporters connect with. This week in the world of Chelsea is a perfect example. Manager Enzo Maresca’s deluded post match comments can only get so much reaction in the press, but fan content creators can reflect our feelings much more accurately.
The London is Blue podcast were as fuming as we were after a shocking display at the Emirates, and they broke down the coach’s shameful spin on a terrible performance in their latest episode.
It’s very cathartic and enjoyable. You can see their breakdown of Maresca’s half-truths and endless spin in the clip embedded here:
🤬 @nickverlaney says Enzo Maresca's post-match comments after the Arsenal game were 'embarrassing,' and believes his style of play is not tenable to help the Blues hit their season goals.

Maresca needs to face the facts or risk losing fans
“This is just a bag of lies,” they said when confronted with the hilarious Maresca statement that Chelsea had “started to control the game and create some chances” after the first 20 minutes.
“The guy who came into this team [in the summer] has turned in the ‘I have to try and say anything to wash away the stink of this performance’, and he’s flat out embarrassing himself with these quotes. Because it’s nowhere near the reality of what we watched. It’s not working. It doesn’t look like a team that’s confident… in what this team can produce. If I were Maresca, I’d be very worried.”
It’s tough, it’s passionate, and it’s true. We said similar things ourselves. We can handle playing badly, we can handle losing. But we can’t handle playing badly, losing, and then being told to our faces that we actually played well.
