Manchester City poised to sign Swedish wonderkid to kick off Hugo Viana era
Manchester City have agreed to complete the signing of FC Copenhagen forward Roony Bardghji in the summer, as per a new report.
Hugo Viana will take over from Txiki Begiristain as the club’s sporting director in the summer as Manchester City aim to rebuild and add a series of names to their roster to challenge on all fronts next term.
City sit in fifth-place in the Premier League table as things stand and are locked in the race to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League with nine league games to play.
Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Ederson are amongst those who could leave the reigning Premier League champions at the end of the season.
Guardiola has struggled with a flurry of injuries in central defence this season, with each of Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Stones and Nathan Ake serving several weeks – if not months – on the sidelines at various points of a challenging campaign for the Blues.
Big change is expected when Viana begins his tenure as director of football and the first order of football is likely to address the uncertainty surrounding the futures of various first-team stars approaching the end of their contracts in the next 12-24 months.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, Atalanta’s Ederson Silva and Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso are believed to be on City’s transfer wishlist for the upcoming transfer window.
As per a new report by Football Insider, Manchester City are poised to complete the signing of FC Copenhagen winger Roony Bardghji to kick off the Hugo Viana era.
The 19-year-old Swedish forward is out of contract in the summer and City are said to be ready to add the highly-rated attacker to their star-studded ranks ahead of the 2025-26 term.
Erling Haaland has shouldered an overwhelming share of the goalscoring burden for Guardiola’s side this season and City will be keen to lend their Norwegian talisman a helping hand by making appropriate acquisitions in the upcoming transfer window.
