Manchester United loaned-out starlet Dan Gore has reportedly overcome his injury nightmare as he prepares to make his return to the pitch.
The Manchester native is a 20-year-old midfielder who has been identified amongst the most promising youth products to emerge out of Carrington in recent years. However, his recurring physical problems have been derailing his career.
After enduring never-ending injury problems last season while on loan at Port Vale, the Red Devils were hoping for a different outcome this term as he joined Erik ten Hag’s first team. However, the youngster suffered shoulder problems that kept him out of action for the best part of the first half of the campaign.
Dan Gore ready to return from bizarre foot injury
In January, the club tried to flip the script by sending him to League One side Rotherham United. Gore made his debut off the bench for the Millers against Birmingham and managed to produce an assist.
He was then expected to make his first start of the season, but ended up suffering a mysterious injury that left his then-manager stunned.
“He worked for two days in the team and went home from training on Friday feeling good. I got a call from the medical staff to say that he’d woken up with his foot really sore,” explained former Rotherham boss Steve Evans
“It’s unbelievable. We didn’t do enough in training for him to have a sore nose let alone a sore foot.”
But according to the Manchester Evening News, the midfielder has finally managed to recover from that bizarre injury, and is now ready to offer his contribution on the pitch in the final stretch of the campaign.
Matt Hamshaw has replaced Evans as head coach, so it remains to be seen if he’ll soon resort to the services of the Man Utd loanee.
As for the Reds supporters, they’ll be merely hoping that the youngster gets an injury-free run, as this ‘curse’ is threatening to wreck what was considered a vastly promising career not so long ago.
