Madison Booker named finalist for for national award

On Wednesday, Longhorns star Madison Booker continued to earn national recognition for her play. The talented sophomore was named one of five finalists for the 2025 John R. Wooden Award. Her latest recognition comes following another season of excellence in Austin.聽

As the Longhorns have been one of the best teams in the country, Booker has been at the center of their success. She has scored 20 or more points in 14 games this season. While the Germantown High School product has made headlines with her scoring, she has also made an impact on the boards. Booker has a team-leading eight games with at least ten rebounds.聽

Whenever Booker has had the ball in her hands, she has been hard to stop. The Longhorns star is shooting 46.5 percent from the field聽this season. She has also been effective from three-point range, shooting 41 percent. Against top-ten teams, she has taken her game to another level, averaging 20.5 points per game.聽

That success has translated to the NCAA tournament where Booker has shined. In four games, the Mississippi native is averaging 18.8 points and eight rebounds per game. With her leading the way, Texas is two wins away from ending their title drought.聽

While Booker's focus is on winning a national championship, adding the Wooden Award to her resume would not be a bad way to end the season. Since starting her Longhorns career, Booker has been one of the best teams in the country due to her all-around game, and as a result, the awards have been rolling in.聽

Booker won't have to wait long to find out her fate regarding the Wooden Award. The winner will be announced on April 11th 聽at the Los Angeles Athletic Club John R. Wooden Award Show.聽
