Luke Gallet and Joey Starks combined for six base hits and six RBIs while Dwight scored in each inning in routing Reed-Custer 12-4 in a nonconference baseball tilt at DTHS on Friday.
Gallet had a bases-loaded double in the third inning and Starks belted a two-run homer in the fifth frame for the Trojans (8-5).
Gallet had three hits, including his double, and drove in four runs. Starks also had three hits, with his home run, and plated two runs. Ryan Bumpous had a double and single, while Owen Dunlap tripled and had an RBI. Jackson Launius also had a hit and RBI and Evan Cox singled.
Wyatt Statler struck out three and allowed three runs in five innings to pick up the win. Cox fanned two in tossing a scoreless inning and Ayden Collom allowed a run in finishing up.
Tolono 9, Pontiac 0 – At Tolono, Pontiac was held to just two hits in taking an Illini Prairie Conference loss to host Tolono (Unity) on April 10. Anderson Horning and Cayden Masching each singled for the Tribe (4-3).
Mason Schlosser took the loss on the bump. Carson Walker and Aden Brummel also pitched.
Marquette 3, Dwight 2 – At Ottawa, a single and an error allowed defending state champion Ottawa (Marquette) to post a walk-off victory over Dwight in a Tri-County Conference contest April 10. Joey Starks took the loss despite striking out six while going the distance.
The Trojans (8-5) scored twice in the second inning, but Marquette tied it up with two runs in the third. Drew Anderson and Owen Dunlap each had a hit and drove in a run while Ryan Bumpous, Ayden Collom and Luke Gallet each singled.
Dee-Mack 6, El Paso-Gridley 5 – At Mackinaw, El Paso-Gridley suffered an extra-inning loss to Dee-Mack after the hosts rallied twice to take the Heart of Illinois Conference contest April 10. The Titans had taken a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning, but the Chiefs responded with the tying run in the bottom of the inning and plated the winner in the eighth.
Owen Adams had three hits while Dominic Ricconi collected a double, single and two RBIs for EPG (2-7). Ryan Kelsey also had two hits, Caden Castleman had a hit and RBI and Mason Vandegraft singled. Adams fanned eight in seven innings. Blake Harris took the loss in relief.
GCMS 5, Lexington 3 – At Lexington, despite outhitting its guest, Lexington dropped a Heart of Illinois Conference contest to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on April 9. Braeden Barber struck out seven in taking the loss. Drake Powell fanned one in relief.
Barber had three hits while Kayden Knight collected two hits and drove in two runs. Miles Lainhart also had two hits.
Prairie Central 14, Iroquois West 3 – At Gilman, Tony Schahrer struck out four in a complete-game effort to lead Prairie Central past Iroquois West in a nonconference game April 8. Schahrer also had a hit and drove in a run to help his cause.
Will Skala, Lucas Steidinger, Collin Hartman and Chase Simpkins each collected a hit and drove in two runs. Lakin Livengood contributed a hit and RBI.
Marquette 9, Dwight 3 – At Dwight, a home run from Drew Anderson wasn’t enough for Dwight as the Trojans suffered a league loss to Marquette in a Tri-County Conference contest at DTHS on April 8.
Anderson homered in the bottom of the third inning after the Crusaders had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the frame. Owen Dunlap contributed a double and run batted ...
