Paris Saint-Germain could strengthen its defense this summer as it continues to add younger talent to the backline. Recent transfers like Lucas Beraldo and Willian Pacho have bolstered the squad, and another addition may be coming.
With Milan Skriniar likely set to leave, Marquinhos and Lucas Hernandez aging, and the futures of Presnel Kimpembe uncertain, PSG’s defense is in need of some fresh, healthier legs.
However, the club isn’t focused on players in their early 20s. Instead, they’re reportedly interested in someone entering the prime of their career to become a key defender for manager Luis Enrique.
PSG target breaks silence on his future: ‘BVB remains my priority’
Recently, German outlet Bild reported that PSG are targeting Nico Schlotterbeck, the 25-year-old Borussia Dortmund defender, under contract until 2027. While speaking to Sky Sports Germany, he broke his silence about his future amid rumors.
“I am very happy here, and I know what it means to play for this club,” Schlotterbeck said (h/t Foot-Sur7). “BVB remains my priority. This summer, we will meet with the club’s leaders and my family to discuss plans for the coming years, hoping that we can achieve great things. Because this club can accomplish much more.”
However, the Ligue 1 side isn’t the only club interested in the German defender. A Premier League team is also keeping an eye on him. According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are reportedly looking at Schlotterbeck as a potential long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.
