Lewis steps down at NorthWood

NAPPANEE — Denny Lewis has announced his resignation as the head wrestling coach at NorthWood High School.

Lewis, who replaced Nate Andrews two years ago, led the Panthers to back-to-back sectional championships.

“Denny did a phenomenal job in his short time back at the helm and we can’t thank him enough for the work he did to make sure the program didn’t miss a beat the last two years,’’ NorthWood athletic director AJ Risedorph said. “His plan was always to do this for a few years so that he could mentor and build for the future of the program.’’

Risedorph said Lewis is looking forward to assisting the next head coach in any way and being an ambassador for the sport.

This was Lewis’ second time coaching NorthWood’s wrestling program. He retired for the first time in 2005, before replacing Andrews in 2023. During his two tenures, he’s helped coach 30 wrestlers to the state finals and coached two state champions.
