La Liga outfit Las Palmas have on Tuesday confirmed that goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has undergone successful surgery.
This comes, for those who may have missed it, after the Dutchman suffered a hugely concerning injury late yesterday evening.
En route to Las Palmas’ 1-1 draw with the aforementioned Celta Vigo, Cillessen was involved in a heavy collision with Celestes star Borja Iglesias.
As much culminated in the shot-stopper being stretchered out of proceedings, before being loaded into an ambulance and taken immediately to hospital.
And as alluded to above, a day on, an update on his wellbeing has been forthcoming online.
As per a statement released across Las Palmas’ social media platforms, after suffering ‘a perforated small intestine’, Cillessen underwent a successful surgical procedure:
‘Our goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen, has successfully undergone surgery for a perforated small intestine. The procedure was performed laparoscopically. The injury occurred as a result of a collision with RC Celta player Borja Iglesias.’
