Lakers beat Grizzlies 134-127 in Iisalo's debut as Memphis coach

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Austin Reaves had 31 points and eight assists, Luka Doncic added 29 points and nine assists and the Los Angeles Lakers held on for a 134-127 win over Memphis on Saturday night in the Grizzlies’ first game under interim coach Tuomas Iisalo.

LeBron James scored 25 points as the Lakers led by 20 points in the first half, but squandered the advantage to make it a close game in the fourth quarter.

Desmond Bane led Memphis with 29 points, while Jaren Jackson Jr. added 24 points. Ja Morant finished with 22 points and 10 assists.

Iisalo took over Friday night hours after Memphis fired Taylor Jenkins, the winningest coach in franchise history, with nine games left in the regular season.

MAGIC 121, KINGS 91

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Paolo Banchero scored 24 points in three quarters and Orlando beat Sacramento.

Orlando pulled even with Atlanta for seventh place in the Eastern Conference, though the Magic have played two more games than the Hawks.

Franz Wagner added 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting to help Orlando rebound from a home loss to Dallas on Thursday night that ended a three-game winning streak. Banchero also had six rebounds and six assists.

DeMar DeRozan led Sacramento with 21 points, and Domantas Sabonis had 14 points and 13 rebounds in the opener of six-game trip. The Kings are in a tight race with Dallas and Phoenix for the final two play-in spots in the Western Conference.

NETS 115, WIZARDS 112

WASHINGTON (AP) — Drew Timme scored the go-ahead basket on a cutting layup with 7.7 seconds left and Brooklyn beat NBA-worst Washington to end a six-game losing streak.

After Timme — playing his second NBA game after signing with the Nets on Friday — gave Brooklyn a 113-112 lead, Washington’s Colby Jones threw the ball out of bounds, and Jalen Wilson hit two throws to finish the scoring.

Wilson and Tyrese Martin each scored 20 points to help the Nets — 2-9 in their last 11 and 3-16 in their last 19 — avoid a season sweep against the Wizards. Timme finished with 19 points, and Cam Johnson added 18.

Jones and AJ Johnson each had 20 points for Washington. The Wizards were coming off the most-lopsided loss in franchise history, a 162-109 drubbing against Indiana on Thursday night.

HEAT 118, 76ERS 95

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Tyler Herro scored 30 points to lead Miami to a victory over short-handed Philadelphia.

Alec Burks added 20 points for the Heat, who hold the final spot in the Eastern Conference for the play-in tournament. Miami has won four in a row following a 10-game losing streak. Herro made five of the Heat’s 20 3-pointers.

Jared Butler had 19 points to lead Philadelphia, which was eliminated from playoff contention following its seventh straight defeat.

It has been a disappointing season for the 76ers, who have been ravaged by injury. Joel Embiid and Paul George are out for the season. Many others, including Tyrese Maxey, didn’t play against the Heat as the 76ers eye the best odds for the highest draft pick.

The Heat also were without several key players, including Andrew Wiggins (right hamstring) and Duncan Robinson (back), who didn’t make the trip.

CELTICS 121, SPURS 111

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Jayson Tatum had 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and Boston won their eighth straight, beating San Antonio.

Jrue Holiday had 21 points, six rebounds and six assists for Boston.

Seven of the eight Celtics who played scored in double figures.

Keldon Johnson had 23 points and Stephon Castle added 22 points as the Spurs lost their third straight.
