Kings Provide Malik Monk Update Ahead of Thunder Game

The Sacramento Kings are at home at the Golden 1 Center on Tuesday night as they face off against the red-hot Oklahoma City Thunder.

Sacramento has struggled recently as they have lost seven of their last 10 games and enter Tuesday’s contest amid a three-game losing streak.

Of course, the Kings are coming off a loss to the Boston Celtics on Monday and they have another tough matchup on Tuesday against a Thunder team that has won nine of their last 10 games and are currently on a six-game winning streak.

To make matters worse for the Kings, they will once again be without their starting point guard Malik Monk as they have officially ruled him out due to an illness.

This is a massive blow for the Kings as Monk has been a major bright spot for the team since he has taken over as their starting point guard after Sacramento traded away De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline.

For Monk, Tuesday’s contest will be the third consecutive game he has missed due to an illness and it is likely that Keon Ellis will once again start in place of him.

While Monk remains sidelined on Tuesday, the Kings did receive some positive news regarding the availability of Devin Carter and Doug McDermott.

Both Carter and McDermott will play in Tuesday’s game after being sidelined in Monday’s loss to the Celtics.

This is massive news for the Kings as Carter will likely see a large role off the bench with Monk sidelined and McDermott provides the team with a knock-down shooter off the bench.

Sacramento will also have Domantas Sabonis available for Tuesday’s game after he returned from a weeklong absence due to an ankle injury on Monday.

Fans can catch Tuesday’s game between the Thunder and Kings at 10:00 p.m. EST.
