Canucks Offence Explodes In 6-2 Victory Over The Blackhawks
The Vancouver Canucks made their shots count as they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 on Saturday night. Vancouver received offence from their entire lineup as Conor Garland, Quinn Hughes, Tyler Myers, Elias Pettersson, Pius Suter and Nils Åman all skated away with goals. As for Artūrs Šilovs, he stopped 17 of the 19 shots he faced for his second win of the season.

Despite only recording 15 shots, the Canucks controlled play for the majority of the game. They pulled off some highlight-reel plays that led to goals and limited the Blackhawks to just six high-danger chances all night. Vancouver was also able to frustrate Connor Bedard, who finished the night with 14 penalty minutes.
Saturday's game also featured some standout performances. One player who really stepped up their game was Myers, who had a goal and two blocked shots in 20:21 of ice time. Post-game, Myers spoke about not just his performance but how important this victory was.
"Means a lot, said Myers. Every win means a lot right now. We're getting to that time of the year where we really gotta get into our details. We got away from it a little bit in the second, but, you know, we came out skating better in the third again."
Pettersson also had a strong night as he recorded his second straight multi-point effort. He also won 58% of his faceoffs, threw two hits and blocked a shot. When asked about his number one center post-game, Rick Tocchet discussed Pettersson's recent play and some of the off-ice changes he has noticed in recent weeks
"There's a lot of different little things for Petey, said Tocchet. "Still the same guy. He's a great kid. He's a really good kid. I think now he's having a little bit more fun in that sense. Listen, when you score, you should smile and stuff. But he's playing soccer with the guys, doing some stuff that I think he's just mixing in. I don't think he has the World on his shoulders right now, but I think he's just enjoying this run. Like I said this, you should enjoy these runs. Good to the playoffs type of run, and I think he's just enjoying this, and he should. Enjoyment should be pressured, like, who wants to play when there's no pressure? And I think he should enjoy it. I think he is enjoying the pressure of playing in these types of games."
There was also a concerning moment in the game as Filip Chytil was hit from behind by Jason Dickinson late in the third period. Chytil went to the locker room and did not return, while Dickinson was not penalized on the play. Post-game, Tocchet did not have an update on Chytil but did call the play "a pretty bad hit."
In the end, Saturday was a massive positive for the Canucks, who jumped back into a playoff spot. They didn't look past their opponent and were able not just to beat Chicago but put the game away in the third. With four wins in their last six games, Vancouver will need to keep up this momentum if they have eyes on a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
