Keyser trounces No. 5 East Hardy, 12-1; Hampshire beats Berkeley Springs

KEYSER, W.Va. — Keyser racked up 10 hits and Layton Valentine threw a complete game in a 12-1, five-inning rout of No. 5 East Hardy on Saturday.

The Golden Tornado (4-5) ended a five-game losing streak with the victory. They scored four runs in the first and second innings, one in the third and three in the fourth.

Cam Larkin led Keyser at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs, Mikey Mongold singled twice and drove in a pair, and Lucas Davy doubled.

Valentine earned the win on the mound, allowing a run on two hits with three strikeouts and no walks in five innings of work.

Jordan Teets took the loss for East Hardy (1-2).

East Hardy hosts Allegany (3-2) on Monday at 6 p.m. Keyser hosts Hampshire (1-8) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Hampshire 13, Berkeley Springs 2

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Hampshire plated six runs in the first inning and rode a complete-game effort from Mark Richman to a five-inning romp of Berkeley Springs Saturday.

Leading the Trojans' offense was Wyatt Adams and Landon Whitacre with two singles and two RBIs each. Whitacre also scored three times, Luke Poore tallied two runs batted in and Channing Wilt doubled.

Richman recorded the victory, surrendering two unearned runs on two hits in five innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Kyle Moore was the losing pitcher for Berkeley Springs (0-11).

Hampshire (1-8) is at Jefferson on Monday at 6 p.m.
