Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant won’t play in the regular season finale April 13 against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.
Suns coach Mike Budenholzer confirmed the decision before Friday's (April 11) home finale against the San Antonio Spurs at PHX Arena. He's out of the April 11 game as well.
Durant will miss the final seven games of the season with a left ankle sprain sustained in the second half of Phoenix’s loss March 30 to Houston. The Suns (35-45) will miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
Durant averaged a team-high 26.6 points in his second full season with the Suns. The 15-time All-Star arrived in Phoenix from Brooklyn in a blockbuster deal before the 2023 trade deadline that sent Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four future first-round picks to the Nets.
“He's been amazing,” Suns coach Mike Budenholzer said before Friday’s game. “He's just a special player, a special scorer. He did so much for us when he was available.”
