Joey Larson foregoes final year at MSU, signs with New York Islanders

Michigan State forward Joey Larson has elected to turn pro and forego his final year of eligibility with the Spartans.

Larson signed a one-year, entry-level contract beginning in the 2025-26 season with the New York Islanders on Monday. Larson will officially forego his final year of eligibility by signing with the Islanders.

Larson appeared in 37 games last season as a junior for the Spartans. He finished the campaign with 10 goals and 14 assists. Larson played two seasons for the Spartans and one for Northern Michigan. He transferred to Michigan State ahead of the 2023 season.

Michigan State's season came to an erupt ending last week when the Spartans were upset by Cornell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans won both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships for a second straight year, but the tough finish to the season left a sour taste in the mouth for a second straight year.
