Jets Defeat A Superstar-Less Oilers Squad 4-3 In Overtime

Without Connor McDavid for the third period and overtime and Leon Draisaitl for the entire game, the Edmonton Oilers were able to bring the Winnipeg Jets to overtime, but the Jets prevailed, winning 4-3.

Jeff Skinner opened the scoring for the Oilers in the first period, recording his 12th goal of the season. The Jets would respond by way of Cole Perfetti, scoring his 15th of the season and second goal in the last three games.

Skinner would give the Oilers the lead once again, but the Jets wold waste no time in responding. Josh Morrissey scored his 11th of the season, the third-highest goal total of his career.

Brandon Tanev would give the Jets their first lead of the game, scoring his 10th goal of the season and his first since joining the Jets at the trade deadline. Zach Hyman was first to a rebound, potting his 25th goal of the season to tie the game at 3-3.

Corey Perry hooked Nikolaj Ehlers with just over 2:30 remaining in the third period, giving the Jets a golden chance to find the winning goal but could not capitalize, sending the game to overtime.

Kyle Connor scored the overtime winner, shooting across his body to secure the two points for the Jets.

Connor Hellebuyck was the busier of the two goaltenders, stopping 20 of the 23 shots he faced. Stuart Skinner played the first three periods before being pulled from the game by the concussion spotter. He stopped 13 of the 16 shots he faced, and Calvin Pickard stopped three of the four shots the Jets threw at him.

The Jets are back in action on Sunday when they take on the Buffalo Sabres.
