Come on, Ja Morant.
The Memphis Grizzlies guard was caught doing a finger guns pose using his hands against the Golden State Warriors earlier in the week. Despite the fact that it was in response to the Dubs' Buddy Hield doing it first, it was much more noteworthy given Morant's history with firearms and previous discipline from the NBA.
The league followed that by warning both Hield and Morant that the gesture was inappropriate. You'd figure Morant would hear that and understand that punishment could be coming if he did it again. And given the Grizzlies disastrous woes right now as they try to make the NBA playoffs, that's probably not the best idea.
Yet Morant decided that Thursday's game was a good time to flash the same finger shotgun gesture.
Ja Morant brought out the finger gun gesture after making this three during Grizzlies-Heat.

Earlier today, the NBA gave Morant and Warriors guard Buddy Hield a warning about doing this celebration.pic.twitter.com/CFoiu8wDDzhttps://t.co/qg2KIVS9dN
You know how your parent would say, "If you do that one more time, you'll be punished." Well, that's what's going on here. The NBA should absolutely suspended Morant for at least a couple of games simply for ignoring the warning.
But there's also history, and history absolutely needs to be factored in here. You can't have a player who was twice suspended for flashing real guns on Instagram Live videos doing that.
I'll say it should ultimately be a three-game suspension for Morant. One for history and two for ignoring a warning from the NBA, which the league can't ignore.
Who knows if that'll be enough for a player who can't seem to get out of his own way at times?
