Steelers to host lightning-fast RB Dylan Sampson for pre-draft top-30 visit
Despite tendering RB Jaylen Warren and signing RB Kenneth Gainwell in free agency, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t quite ready to give up on their star RB hunt just yet.
Tennessee Volunteers RB Dylan Sampson is visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers on March 14, providing the team with an exceptionally fast option to potentially replace former starting RB Najee Harris.
Dylan Sampson, who spent three years at Tennessee, received his first collegiate start on the grandest stage—the Volunteers’ Citrus Bowl game—and made the most of his opportunity, rushing for 133 yards on 20 carries.
Sampson then went on to have a fantastic 2024 season, accumulating 1,491 rushing yards on 258 attempts, averaging 5.8 yards per touch, and scoring 22 rushing TDs—all in just 13 games, which earned him being named SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo had this to say about a previous injury Sampson sustained, as well as his draft projection:
“He injured his hamstring in a CFP playoff game against Ohio State in December and did not run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine last month. He is projected to be picked in the second or third round of the draft.”
The lightning-fast Sampson's injury may have caused him to slide down draft boards—right into the laps of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round.
