Michigan State ice hockey will open the NCAA Tournament on Thursday with a first-round game against Cornell.
The Spartans received the No. 2 national seed and are considered one of the clear favorites to win the national championship this year. Michigan State's potential run will start at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. The Spartans ended the regular season 26-6-4 (15-5-4 Big Ten).
Cornell secured a spot as one of the last teams in the NCAA Tournament by winning the East Coast Athletic Conference tournament last weekend. The Big Red are 18-10-6 (10-8-4 conference).
The winner will face the Boston University-Ohio State winner on Saturday. From there, the Frozen Four in St. Louis begins on April 10.
