Hayfield baseball team splits a pair against elite teams in Riverland

Apr. 12—The Hayfield baseball team beat Ely 11-1 and lost to defending Class A state champion Springfield 11-7 in a pair of games that were played at Riverland Community College Saturday.

The Vikings (3-1 overall) led Springfield 4-1 after four innings, but they ran out of pitching after playing their third game in less than 24 hours.
