Goodpasture's Dustin Patton resigns to become DCA girls basketball coach
Dustin Patton has resigned after two seasons as Goodpasture’s boys basketball coach and accepted a job as Donelson Christian Academy’s girls coach, Patton confirmed to The Tennessean.
Patton went 57-10 in two seasons as Goodpasture’s boys coach. He led the Cougars to a 31-3 record and Division II-A state semifinal appearance this past season.
The DCA opening came when former coach Karen Singer retired after the season. Patton, a McGavock graduate, said the move will allow him to be closer to family in Mt. Juliet.
“I really enjoyed my time at Goodpasture. I got to coach a lot of great kids. But I’m looking forward to getting closer to the girls side, closer to my home,” Patton said. “I think DCA is in a good spot to have a good girls program and I’m looking forward to taking that over.”
Patton took over at Goodpasture for former coach Adam Sonn, who resigned following the school’s 2023 Division II-A TSSAA basketball state championship. Patton, a former longtime Goodpasture assistant, was Nashville Christian’s girls coach at the time.
At Nashville Christian, Patton was 60-10 with the Eagles, including consecutive DII-A state quarterfinal appearances.
