Mar. 30—The previous couple days saw a full crash out on social media by a segment of the Illinois fan base. Carey Booth going in the transfer portal? That didn't exactly move the needle. Morez Johnson Jr. and Tre White following Booth in? Well, that had some Illini fans in their feels.
Another offseason where it looks like Illinois coach Brad Underwood will have to flip almost his entire roster again did not qualify as good news for the fan base. Especially Johnson's decision to enter the portal. It's certainly not the ideal situation, and while players should be able to do as they wish and move on just like coaches do it's easy to see where fans could get disenfranchised.
Former Illinois guard Dee Brown can see it from all angles. He was a player and is now a coach. Plus he's an Illini fan himself given his four seasons in Champaign. (Coleman Hawkins really might be the last to pull that off).
