When Elizabeth VanDusseldorp swings and connects with the golf ball, it is art in motion.
The Holland Christian golfer has been drawn to both art and golf and found the place to put those two passions together.
VanDusseldorp, the Sentinel Golfer of the Year, committed to play golf at Calvin University next year where she will study to be an art teacher. Those are just of the communities at Calvin she hopes to be a part of.
"I chose Calvin University because it has a great teaching program and is very community-centered. I plan on studying secondary education to become an art teacher, so the quality of the education program was important to me when deciding where to go," VanDusseldorp said. "I was drawn to Calvin because it has a great reputation. When I toured Calvin, I was impressed by the opportunities to meet and get involved with the community. There are a lot of events to help meet those in the same dorms as you and also events to meet people you would not typically see."
Another community she will be heavily involved with is the golf team. VanDusseldorp was a state qualifier and looks to keep that success rolling at Calvin.
"I am very excited to continue to play golf in college," she said. "The opportunity to play golf was a big draw to Calvin as well. I am eager to meet the girls on the team. One of my favorite parts of high school golf was the community, so I am excited to continue to have a great community like that."
