Giants' Schoen Gets His Quarterback
Give Round Two to New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen.
After watching a college quarterback he has no shot at drafting in Miami's Cam Ward, Schoen did the next best thing. He went out and got the best veteran available in former Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson.
By signing Wilson, the Giants have put an end to their short-term quarterback dilemma. Wilson will more than likely be the starter once the regular season starts in the fall.
What that also means is that the Giants do not have to draft Shedeur Sanders with the third pick. Rather than being forced into a selection with only Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito in the quarterback room, New York can pick Sanders if it is head-over-heels for him, or it can take a blue-chip prospect like Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter.
The Giants can now take their time and do due diligence on Jaxson Dart, Kyle McCord and Jalen Milroe to see if any of them can come with the appropriate value to be groomed for the future.
Dart should be available at No. 34 when the Giants make their second-round selection. McCord and Milroe might be on the board even later.
Further, one may consider Hunter the favorite to come off the board at No. 3. They can play him opposite Malik Nabers and give Wilson a dynamic receiving corps to work with -- better than the hand he was dealt in Pittsburgh.
This could not work out any better for Schoen. Now, he just has to pray the Cleveland Browns do not draft Hunter with the second pick. With the upside that comes with pairing Carter and Myles Garrett, Hunter could reasonably slip.

The Giants also do not have to wait for Aaron Rodgers to make up his mind. Rodgers now has two choices, he can sign with the Steelers or he can retire.
Schoen played his cards right. Now, the Giants can truly take whoever tops their board in Round 1.
