Boston (2-4) defeated Baltimore (3-3), 3-0, Wednesday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.
Former Vol Garrett Crochet (1-0) started for the Red Sox. He pitched eight innings and recorded eight strikeouts. Crochet totaled 102 pitches, including 68 strikes, against 27 batters. The former Vol also recorded 18 first-pitch strikes against the Orioles.
Crochet allowed four hits, one walk and zero runs.
Boston will play the Orioles in a series finale on Thursday. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. EDT.
Crochet was traded from the White Sox to Boston during the offseason. He played for Chicago from 2020-24 and appeared in 105 games, including 33 starts. Crochet (9-19) recorded 296 strikeouts with Chicago.
The former Vol was selected by the White Sox in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft (No. 11 overall). Crochet (10-9) played for the Vols from 2018-20, appearing in 36 games. He recorded 149 strikeouts during his career at Tennessee.
