Portal season is fully underway in the college basketball world. The timing of the portal's opening may be rather interesting, as the biggest names in the sport are getting ready for their Sweet 16 games, while others are already starting roster construction for next season.
The Iowa Hawkeyes fall into the latter category as their season ended with the Big Ten Tournament. They saw a program shift as Fran McCaffery parted ways with the program to usher in the Ben McCollum era. Change like that leads to inevitable transfers within a program, and Iowa saw an abundance.
One player who spent a considerable amount of time at Iowa and entered the transfer portal is forward Riley Mulvey. After spending three years with the Hawkeyes, Mulvey took to his X account to announce that he will be transferring to Siena.

Mulvey spent four seasons with Iowa, redshirting one year. He appeared in 48 games for the Hawkeyes, playing sparingly, averaging 5.6 minutes per game. He saw more action this year due to injuries and converted 68.2% of his shots from the field.
Riley Mulvey, the native of Rotterdam, New York, and St. Thomas More High Schoo,l heads home as Sienna is less than a half an hour from where he grew up. The 6-11 forward was part of the 2021 recruiting class. Per 247Sports, he was a three-star recruit ranked as the No. 27 center and No. 2 recruit from New York in his class.
Siena did offer Mulvey a scholarship out of high school, which helps make this transition as seamless as possible. Siena was 14-18 last year with a 9-11 mark in the MAAC.
