Former Eagles QB turned Spring success has No. 1 newly released football book on Amazon

The Eagles organization fancies itself as something of a quarterback factory. At one point, GM Howie Roseman drafted a quarterback every other year since taking over in Philadelphia. One signal-caller who had a stop with the Eagles was Luis Perez.

Perez played college football at Texas A&M University–Commerce from 2015 to 2017, before signing with the Rams following the 2018 NFL draft. Perez spent time on the Rams' practice squad in 2018 before joining the Eagles in the spring of 2019. A spring league star, Perez signed with the Eagles after the AAF suspended football operations on April 9, 2019.

Perez was waived by the Eagles that May and joined the Lions in August before getting waived. In 2020, Perez was drafted to the XFL, and his spring career took off. That year, Perez was one of the 8 "tier 1" quarterbacks assigned to each team in the league, where he was assigned to the Los Angeles Wildcats.

Hoping to inspire others and tell his unique story, Perez wrote an autobiography, "The Spring King," which was released last week. The title is a nod to the nickname he was given for his success in the spring professional leagues, and it's now the No. 1 new release on Amazon.

The Spring King tells the inspiring story of Luis Perez, a man who defied the odds to become a professional quarterback despite never playing high school football. Before pursuing his NFL dream, Luis was an amateur bowler, but his passion for football led him to teach himself how to play quarterback through YouTube tutorials. After overcoming countless obstacles and setbacks, he won a national championship and the Harlon Hill Trophy in college. His journey took him through the NFL, USFL, UFL, and XFL (where he secured a championship).

This memoir chronicles the hard work, dedication, and obsession that fueled his rise, offering an inside look at the perseverance it took to reach his goals. His journey continues as he plays in the UFL, driven by his dream of returning to the NFL. The Spring King is a powerful testament to resilience and the belief that, with enough determination, no dream is out of reach.

Perez played college football at Texas A&M-Commerce from 2016 to 2017. Before that, he played junior college football at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California. In his final season, the Lions won the national championship. He threw for 5,001 yards and had 46 touchdown passes. He won the Harlon Hill Trophy, the Division II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.
