Falcons target pass rush in new 2025 NFL mock draft
The Atlanta Falcons entered the 2025 NFL offseason with holes at the cornerback, safety, linebacker and center positions. After three weeks, the team has done a decent job of addressing these needs without spending a ton of salary cap space.
Atlanta signed cornerback Mike Hughes, safety Jordan Fuller and linebacker Leonard Floyd, each of whom should start for the team next season. While Hughes and Fuller signed multi-year contracts, the 32-year-old Floyd landed a one-year deal and there's no guarantee he'll be in Atlanta beyond 2025.
That means the Falcons should still be targeting an edge rusher in the 2025 NFL draft. Fortunately, for Atlanta, there are some quality defensive end/outside linebacker prospects in this year's class.
One name that seems to be picking up steam is Marshall edge rusher Mike Green. NFL.com's Bucky Brooks is the latest draft analyst to project Green to Atlanta.
"The Dirty Birds have been searching for a consistent edge rusher since John Abraham departed over a decade ago. Green is a sack artist with the tools and talent to take over games," wrote NFL.com's Bucky Brooks.
It's easy to see why the Falcons would be interested in Green. He was the nation's most productive edge rusher (17 sacks, 32 hurries) last season and is a projected mid-first-round pick in this year's draft. According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Falcons came out in full force to Marshall's pro day, including head coach Raheem Morris.

Green reportedly had a good showing during Marshall's pro day, which would seem to solidify his first-round status. There are some off-the-field concerns with Green, but assuming the Falcons have done their due diligence, he appears to be in play at pick No. 15.
