F1's first female race engineer praised by Haas team after debut
German Laura Müller was hailed by her Haas team after becoming the first woman to operate as a race engineer in Formula One.
She was the voice in driver Esteban Ocon's ear during the practice sessions on Friday for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
"Laura has been super motivated from day one," Ocon told reporters. "It makes no difference (if it is a man or a woman)."
Team boss Ayao Komatsu added: "What she's really good at is digging deep when there's a problem. She doesn't stop after the first answer."
She herself finds it a shame that it has taken so long for a female race engineer in F1.
"But when girls and women see me on TV and think that they can achieve this too, it makes me pretty happy," she said in a team release.
"But I just want to do a good job and get the best out of the team and the car."
