Emerging Barcelona star admits he started the season ‘poorly’: ‘It was difficult for me’

Barcelona star Gerard Martín has this weekend opened up on how he feels his season has progressed from an individual standpoint.

This comes fresh off another fine performance on the part of the defender on Saturday night.

Barcelona were of course back in action yesterday evening, after making the trip to Madrid for a La Liga meeting with relegation-battling Leganés.

When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops emerged on the right side of a hard-fought 1-0 result, to extend their advantage atop Spain’s top-flight.

The aforementioned Gerard Martín, meanwhile, played a key role in as much.

Introduced off the bench following an injury suffered by Alejandro Balde, left-back Martín won back possession in stellar fashion to guide Barca up the pitch for their only goal.

Speaking to the media on the back of the latest in a string of solid recent performances on the part of the 23-year-old, Martín was therefore drawn on his notable improvement of late.

And the defender went on to explain:

“I’m satisfied with my season. I started the season poorly, and gradually have been improving. At the beginning the pressure was big, and it was difficult for me. Now I have adapted well, and I’m in good form.”
