Derik Queen travel/no-call: Maryland-CSU NCAA tournament buzzer-beater reactions
March Madness fans got a buzzer-beater from Sunday night's second-round game between the No. 4 Maryland Terrapins and the 12th-seeded Colorado State Rams, but it appeared that Maryland's Derik Queen traveled before taking the shot to win the game, 72-71.
Officials swallowed their whistles, and the Rams' season ended in heartbreak.
The Terps will face the top-seeded Florida Gators in the Sweet 16.
Some of the social-media reactions to the officials' non-call:
In the interest of checking in and making sure with those who know best, I just spoke to a veteran official and they said without wiggle room for interpretation: Derik Queen absolutely traveled on this shot.

Maryland advances, nonetheless. https://t.co/EZkR2nxsYu
If this kid doesn't sign a NIL with Travelers Insurance...what are we even doing.

3 steps once he picked up the ball.....no call. Brutal for CSU https://t.co/8zDQkspPDs
Great shot! But 3 steps is 3 steps.

For you gather-step-haters: This Maryland game-winner is a travel by the rulebook. He gathers the ball with his right foot down (pivot foot), then lifts it and puts it back down—travel. BUT this happens so often on drives, no one bats an eye. pic.twitter.com/TEvRVgL4fm

This angle makes the travel look worse https://t.co/sZIUvaAObO

The end of the Maryland - CSU game proves that college is now the NBA. Three steps to make a layup. NCAA either change the travel rule to mirror the NBA or enforce the travel rule. 🤦🏻

For everyone saying Queen walked -- you're right. And that is never getting called in that moment. https://t.co/uCambHFOoA
