Deion Sanders denies viral quote about Shedeur preferring New York

Deion Sanders, the father of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, went viral on Tuesday for a quote that he has since denied.

While appearing at the 2025 ProMat biennial trade fair and conference in Chicago, Sanders was alleged to have tipped his hand on Shedeur's draft day preference.

"THIS IS A LIE! We're thankful for whatever God chooses for them," Sanders wrote in an Instagram reply.

Those in attendance at the event were prohibited from filming, which was revealed after Sanders' denial. The original reporter stood behind his source, who quickly made his X account private.

Sanders also addressed the situation on X.

Sanders has been very vocal about his willingness to intervene in Shedeur's potential destination, implying repeatedly that there are blacklisted teams atop the 2025 NFL draft. However, the New York Giants have never appeared to be one of those, with Deion even suggesting he knew for a "fact" general manager Joe Schoen would keep the No. 3 overall pick and likely target his son.

Shedeur, meanwhile, has developed a strong relationship with the head coach Brian Daboll and the Giants as a whole.

With a month until April's draft, most mocks now project Shedeur to the Giants with that No. 3 overall pick. If selected, he would join a quarterback room consisting of Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy DeVito.
