Cowboys RB Miles Sanders on his time with Panthers: 'I don't really have much to say'

If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all. And unfortunately for running back Miles Sanders, he doesn't have something nice to say about his time with the Carolina Panthers.

That time ended back on March 11, when Sanders and the Panthers officially parted ways. Despite reportedly having interest in keeping the relationship going on an amended deal, Carolina decided to release the 27-year-old rusher right before the start of the new league year.

Sanders has since landed on his feet with the Dallas Cowboys, and seemingly has no plans of looking back—at least fondly—on his tenure in Charlotte.

"These last two years, I don't really have much to say," Sanders stated, via Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com. "I guess I'd say I handled the situation as best I could, there was a lot of things out of my control that I would not like to speak on and just keep it in house, so I'll just keep it at that."

The Panthers, with designs of making Sanders their "bell cow" back, signed the former Philadelphia Eagle to a four-year, $25.4 million pact ahead of the 2023 season. But he'd quickly take a backseat to teammate Chuba Hubbard, who swiped the starting job just six weeks into Sanders' first season.

Sanders finished the 2023 campaign with 432 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Carolina then sent another troubling message Sanders' way, as they selected University of Texas running back Jonathon Brooks in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. Brooks was the first running back taken that spring.

This past season saw Sanders, who was limited by an ankle injury, play in 11 games. He rushed for a career-low 205 yards.

Nonetheless, Sanders may still try to use his failed tenure with the Panthers to his advantage.

"Definitely a learning experience, you just have to control what you can control," Sanders said. "I think I've made the best of this situation with the cards I've been dealt with, there's a lot of stuff out of my control, but I'm just blessed to still be in the situation I'm in and have another opportunity to ball out."
