Could Washington draft James Pearce Jr. to fill a need?
James Pearce Jr. received a new mock draft projection ahead of the NFL draft.
CBS Sports projects the former Tennessee defensive lineman to Washington with the 29th overall pick.
"The Commanders did a great job filling their biggest needs via trades and in free agency, and now they address another one with their first draft pick," Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports said. "Over the past two seasons, James Pearce Jr. racked up 28 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks and two forced fumbles."
Pearce Jr.'s projections have been all over the map since the conclusion of the NFL scouting combine. He had attention of NFL personnel at the combine by clocking 40-yard dash times of 4.50 and 4.47 seconds.
Draft Wire's projection after the NFL scouting combine mocked Pearce Jr. to Dallas with the No. 12 overall pick.
However, a subsequent Draft Wire projection knocked the former Vol back to Tampa Bay at No. 19 overall. Draft Wire's projection after Tennessee's pro day had Pearce Jr. falling to Philadelphia with the final pick in the first round.
